FCMAT Teleconferencing Project Update
It looks like we are back on track with the FCMAT Teleconferencing Project. The following is an update relative to the project's progress:
1. Within the next ten days, the following two activities are scheduled.
1.1 Roof mount satellite dish installation and testing demonstration at the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
1.2 Ground mount satellite dish installation demonstration at the Orange County Office of Education.
These two sites were chosen because of their proximity to the dish manufacturer and the installer's business office and warehouse.
2. The new subcontractor, hired by COMSAT RSI to do the down link installations, is Burke Enterprises. Their project coordinator is John L'Heureux. If you need to, you can reach him at (714) 375-7555.3.The schedule to pick up the first 30 DH dishes is set to begin on Wednesday, February 25, at El Centro and move North through the state, ending in Santa Rosa on Friday, March 6, 1998. The schedule for the pick up of the first 30 dishes is attached to this update. As soon as we receive the schedule for the pickup of the remaining DH dishes, we will get that to you.
4. If all goes well with the testing and demonstration installations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, Burke Enterprises will continue with the installations beginning in the Southern portion of our state and progressing North. Once again, the weather was a major factor in starting at the Southern end of the state.
5. Previously, we mentioned that the new dishes would be shipped directly to each COE. That will not be the case. Miralite (the manufacturer of the new satellite antenna) will begin shipping the new dishes to Burke Enterprises beginning February 13, and Burke Enterprises will deliver, install, and test your dish. Currently, Miralite is scheduled to deliver eight dishes per week. However, if the testing and demonstration installations go well, Miralite may be able to accelerate the schedule.
6. We still do not have a specific installation schedule from COMSAT RSI (because of some questions that still must be addressed). As soon as we receive an installation schedule, we will get it out to you.
7. WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you are doing a roof mount and have not sent us a copy of your architect's/structural engineer's load analysis and approval for the installation, please do so immediately. The deadline to get these to COMSAT RSI has passed and every day that we are late in getting this information to COMSAT RSI can extend the final completion date of our project.
If you have any questions regarding the progress of the project, please give me a call at
