FCMAT Teleconferencing Project Update

We just received word from Barry Sullivan of COMSAT that connectivity materials have been placed in the mail to all downlink sites. These materials should be received in your office by Wednesday, October 22. In addition, Barry informed us that the installation crews will be arriving in California on October 23 and 24 to do satellite installations. The first county offices of education to be visited will be those in the northern part of the state as well as those on the eastern side of the Sierras. The reason for this is to complete the downlink installations prior to bad weather setting in.

You should be receiving a call from COMM-CRAFT (the subcontractor who is responsible for the downlink equipment installations) to let you know when the installation crew will be at your site.

There are a small number of sites that need new surveys and this should be accomplished in conjunction with the actual equipment installation, whenever possible. The vast majority of county offices are now ready for the installation crews. If for any reason your site is not ready for a resurvey and/or installation, please call one of the following numbers:

We have a couple of sites that will not be ready for installation at this time. We hope to be able to do those installations at a later date. However, let me encourage you to have everything in order so that you can have your equipment installed during this visit by COMM-CRAFT.

Needless to say, we have had a number of unexpected delays in our project. We apologize for those and ask for your continued patience and assistance.
