FCMAT Teleconferencing Project Update
It has been almost four weeks since our last Teleconferencing Project Update and lots of things have happened since our last communication.
We were finally seeing some progress in regards to getting downlink equipment installed and sites ready for receptivity. In fact, eleven sites in the Northern and Northeastern part of the state were visited by the two contract installation crews. As the site work was taking place, people on the various sites began calling in with questions and concerns. This, coupled with concerns that the engineers at KCSOS were having, led to actual site visitations by KCSOS project staff.
To make a long story short, we were not happy with the quality of the work that the installation crews were doing and in addition, the installation specifications in the project contract were not being followed. Consequently, we requested that the crews be removed from the project and COMSAT-RSI (the primary contractor) agreed.
We are in the process of obtaining some additional engineering and installation data. We are also working with COMSAT to get another crew(s) in the field as soon as possible to continue the installation work.
As soon as we have additional information on moving the Teleconferencing Project forward, we will be back in touch. In the interim, if you have any specific questions or need additional information pertinent to your site, please give me a call at 805-636-4614.
