Teleconferencing Project Correspondence

July 3, 1997

TO: County Superintendents and Chief Business Officials

FROM: Thomas E. Henry, FCMAT Chief Administrative Officer

SUBJECT: FCMAT Teleconferencing Project Update

The FCMAT Teleconferencing Project continues to move forward. There are a number of events that have occurred since my last communication. The purpose of this communication is to bring you up-to-date on our progress.

The major contracts for the downlink equipment have been signed. This has enabled FCMAT to set new timelines for the completion of the project. These timelines include:

1. By August 8,1997 -- Completion of the installation of downlink equipment at all sites. COMSAT RSI Network was the successful bidder for this part of the project. They should be contacting you in the near future to set up an appointment for a site visit. It is anticipated that there will be two site visits by COMSAT. One for site inspection and the other for installation of the downlink equipment.

2. By August 8, 1997 -- Delivery of your monitor, VCR and rack by COMSAT.

3. By August 8,1997 -- Delivery of the FCMAT Orientation Tape. This tape will assist staff at downlink locations in becoming familiar with the new downlink equipment and its utilization.

4. Mid to late August -- Test new equipment - sending and receiving.

5. September 16,1997 -- Inaugural Teleconferencing Broadcast to all COEs and CDE.

If you have not done the following, please do so immediately so that the project can progress in a timely and efficient manner:

1. Be completely ready to receive the downlink equipment and prepared to do the necessary hook-up.

2. Sign and return the "Teleconferencing Project Equipment Use Agreement." The downlink equipment cannot be delivered without this document being executed and returned.

3. If there is a change in your Teleconferencing Project contact person, please pass this information on to that individual immediately and ask him/her to call our office at the number above.

Thank you for all of the assistance and support that you have provided in moving this project to fruition. I feel that this project will serve your county office operation in many valuable ways in the future. Please feel free to give me a call at 805-636-4611 if you have any questions or comments regarding this project.
