SUBJECT:
FCMAT Teleconferencing Project Update and Inaugural Broadcast Information
We are continuing to experience steady progress with the FCMAT Teleconferencing Project. To date, we have 31 installations completed, work is in progress at 4 sites, and 23 sites need to be installed. Although we still need to do the final testing on the vast majority of sites, completed sites can receive broadcast signals.
COMSAT RSI is extending the installation work to be done by HOMETECH. Additional sites that they will be responsible for include:
1. Alameda,
2. Placer,
3. Sacramento,
4. Santa Clara
Your HOMETECH contact is Kevin Sigler at (707) 426-5811.
An additional installation sub-contractor (KAV) has been engaged by COMSAT RSI to do the installations at:
- 1. Alpine,
- 2. Madera,
- 3. Plumas,
- 4. Santa Cruz,
- 5. Monterey,
- 6. Tehama
Your contact at KAV is Kirk Hobbs at (800) 717-4707.
Conlan Engineering will be doing the installation in Tulare County. Ed Borges, with Conlan, can be reached at (209) 688-7485.
These subcontractors will call you as soon as they develop their installation schedules.
COMSAT RSI is currently working to secure an installer for the following sites:
1. Del Norte,
2. Humboldt,
3. Modoc,
4. Siskiyou,
- 5. Trinity
As soon as a subcontractor is identified for these sites, I'll let you know.
If your installation has not been completed and you are aware of any missing parts to your downlink system, please call Al Fox at COMSAT RSI (301) 428-5067.
Once again, we have started making plans for our inaugural broadcast. We have scheduled this broadcast for Tuesday, October 13, 1998, at 3:00 p.m. The broadcast will be uplinked from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office and broadcast to all county office of education downlinks and other interested sites. More information will be coming to you as the inaugural broadcast planning develops. Meanwhile, would you please schedule the room (conference, board, etc.) where your monitor and VCR are (will be) placed, for this broadcast. It would be very helpful if you could secure this room from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 1998.
Let me thank you in advance for your assistance on this matter. If I can answer any questions regarding the FCMAT Teleconferencing Project or the inaugural broadcast, please call me at (805) 636-4614.
