California School Transportation Administrators' Course

This course, developed for transportation administrators, lasts for two weeks for eight hours per day, five days per week, and includes some night sessions.

The purpose of the course is to assist school transportation administrators at all levels who may have a limited background related to pupil transportation in California. This course will help the administrator to understand California rules and regulations, the responsibilities and the liabilities of the carrier, and the use of training records for driver and trainer.

California Department of Education Course for Bus Driver Instructors

The bus driver instructor course is conducted by the California Department of Education. This course is three weeks in length, 120 hours. It covers 44 subject areas, with emphasis on the fundamentals of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction techniques.

The course is designed for qualified individuals who have the desire, ability, and attitude to become competent driver instructors. Transportation providers, regardless of size, that own and operate school buses or school activity buses are eligible to participate in this program.
